EMDR Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a thoroughly researched therapy that helps eliminate the distress associated with traumatic memories and experiences. It is highly effective for individuals who experience anxiety, depression, panic, PTSD, trauma and stress-related concerns, as well as many other challenges.
EMDR is different from talk therapy as it does not require clients to talk about past experiences, nor change thoughts, emotions, or behaviors. During EMDR, individuals address emotionally disturbing material while simultaneously focusing on the present using bilateral stimulation such as eye movements, tapping, or sound. EMDR helps develop skills and attitudes needed for positive future actions and allows the brain to heal itself.
EMDR therapy shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma much as the body recovers from physical trauma.
